Dia de los Muertos
Here at Paths of Heart, we love the tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. We look forward to this colorful, annual celebration every year, where we honor our loved ones who have passed with life-affirming joy. With origins in pre-Hispanic Mexico, Dia de los Muertos is a celebration of life AND death, acknowledging death as a natural phase in life’s long continuum. A centerpiece of the celebration is an altar, or ofrenda, and we will have one set up for you to bring your photos, trinkets, or other mementos and offerings for your loved ones (including pets). We’ll delve a bit into the history of Dia de los Muertos and how we can incorporate its meaning into our lives today. We’ll also discuss our participation in the YOU MATTER Marathon this month, and will have cards for you to pass along. Please remember this Sunday marks the end of Daylight Saving Time, so set your clocks back an hour before you go to bed on Saturday night, and enjoy that extra hour of sleep ~ we know we will! 🙂

Looking Ahead/Notes of Interest
The month of November ~ We are participating in the YOU MATTER Marathon, a month-long event taking place Nov. 1st to the 30th each year. YMM is a global initiative that creates positive connections between individuals and within communities. Unlike traditional marathons, there is no running required! This is a movement of kindness to let people know that they matter. Participants simply share a pre-printed business card stating “You Matter”, however and with whomever they are moved to do so! Paths of Heart is a sponsor this year and we’ve got lots of cards to share with all who wish to participate! For more information, visit https://youmattermarathon.com/
Sunday, November 17th ~ Pat Kendall will be our featured speaker, coinciding with the publication of her memoir, Opening into Light, Reflections from a Lifetime of Learning to See. Pat will share some of her journey, “beginning in darkness and hidden in pain”, down a “long road to healing, joy, and freedom.” Throughout her book, she gives us hope that, “beneath pain lie buried the seeds of healing, waiting only for an opening into the light.” Pat will have a book signing after our gathering, and she’ll be generously donating all profits from book purchases that morning to Paths of Heart! We hope you’ll join us for what is sure to be an inspiring morning!
Sunday, November 24th ~ Myles Sloniker will be in town, so we’re bound to have some extra special musical fun this Sunday! We’re also planning on a Gratitude potluck after our gathering. Stay tuned for more details…
