The Grateful Heart

The Grateful Heart

As we immerse ourselves in this Season of Gratitude, we reflect upon all we are grateful for and explore ways we can keep gratitude in the forefront of our hearts and minds all year long.  We invite you to bring poems or other readings about gratitude and to share your own personal gleanings on giving thanks.  Myles and Emma Sloniker will be our music guests this Sunday.  A Gratitude Potluck will follow our gathering.  Please bring a “fall favorite” dish to share.  Paths of Heart will provide a variety of beverages AND pumpkin pie!  Remember to bring your own table service (washable plates and utensils).  We’ll provide cloth napkins and reusable cups.  Thank you!

Quotes to ponder

“I don’t have to chase extraordinary moments to find happiness – it’s right in front of me if I’m paying attention and practicing gratitude.” ~ Brene Brown

“Gratitude turns what we have into enough.” ~ Anonymous

“Thankfulness is the beginning of gratitude. Gratitude is the completion of thankfulness. Thankfulness may consist merely of words. Gratitude is shown in acts.” ~ Henri Frederic Amiel

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.” – Gilbert C. Chesterton

Looking Ahead/Notes of Interest

The entire month of November  ~ We are participating in the YOU MATTER Marathon, a month-long event taking place Nov. 1st to the 30th each year. YMM is a global initiative that creates positive connections between individuals and within communities.  Unlike traditional marathons, there is no running required! This is a movement of kindness to let people know that they matter. Participants simply share a pre-printed business card stating “You Matter”, however and with whomever they are moved to do so!  Paths of Heart is a sponsor this year and we’ve got lots of cards to share with all who wish to participate!  For more information, visit https://youmattermarathon.com/

Sunday, December 1st ~ Laura Elliot (pictured) will be our featured speaker.  Her joyful, resilient, loving nature is sure to rub off on you!  Her topic will be “Finding Your Focus”.  A little preview from Laura: “To Find Your Focus and somehow remain positive despite adversity is a conscious choice that one is given multiple opportunities to choose along their journey… I knew that it was my choice to focus on how I framed the adversity I was currently suffering. Cancer, for example, was discovered at a time when I was already well-versed at reframing negatives into opportunities, so I looked at it as a blessing to share with others and an opportunity to create healing among my family… I will share with you how to grow your joy and prepare it to sustain you during times of doubt. You, too, can find your focus and remain joyful!”  Myles Sloniker will still be with us for one more day, so expect some awesome music to go along with Laura’s talk, too!

Tuesday, December 3rd ~ “Giving Tuesday”.  We invite our community to contemplate an extra gift to Paths of Heart on Giving Tuesday, an international movement promoting charitable giving celebrated each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.  This was a significant fundraiser for Paths last year and we hope you’ll participate as you are able this year as well. Thank you for considering Paths of Heart in your end-of-year giving!

Tuesday, December 3rd, 7- 8:30 pm ~ We will hold a special Holiday Song Circle to sing songs of the season together!  Light snacks and refreshments will be served.  Love offerings to Paths of Heart are greatly appreciated.

Tuesday, December 10th ~ “Colorado Gives Day”.  Colorado Gives Day is an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado through online giving.  Though we cannot accept donations through the official website because our organization is not of sufficient size, we encourage you to donate “in the spirit” of the movement!  Thank you so much for your ongoing support of our non-profit.

Tuesday, December 24th, 7 pm ~ Our Annual Holiday Celebration of seasonal music and poetry!  Get here early, as seats fill up fast. Come celebrate the season with us!

Gratitudes

Huge thanks to Pat Kendall for sharing part of her story with us and donating all profits from her book sale and signing last Sunday to Paths of Heart!  It was a beautiful morning and we deeply appreciate her generosity.

Thanks, too, for all who joined in the fun of singing Happy Birthday to Terry’s mom on video!  She loved it!

“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

Car-eography
You may park in the driveway, as well as diagonally along the north side of our property.  Should those areas become full, please park out on Hwy 1, which has plenty of space and a nice wide shoulder.  Do watch for passing cars as you are exiting and entering your vehicle, though! The carport area is reserved for folks with special parking needs. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask that you kindly refrain from parking on Evans Drive beyond our property line. Car pooling is encouraged.  We also have a bike rack for cyclists!

About Paths of Heart…

Paths of Heart is a high spirited, heart-centered community where we gather together in music, poetry, commentary, and dialogue to create and nurture joy, compassion, gratitude, and love – in our own lives and throughout the world.  Paths of Heart is a 501(c)(3) Human Services/Educational non-profit organization that uses the arts, especially, to encourage and propel seekers of a better, more peaceful world to find ways to serve, while becoming more kind and compassionate human beings.

We welcome you as we collectively and individually explore the sweet mysteries of life – this is an invitation into co-creation! Our gatherings are most every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at 117 Evans Drive in north Fort Collins. Childcare is available (please let us know ahead of time so we can make arrangements).

We hope our paths cross soon!
